True Riches

I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts, And contemplate Your ways.(Psalm 119:14-15)

Rejoice means “to make joyful”. The heart of the Psalmist is brought joy by following God…by doing what He commands. I think this is a very difficult thing to live out. The analogy here is that we value the commands of God like we value great riches. To put it another way, we come to an understanding that following God’s commands and offering our lives in service to Him: THAT is true riches. The entire book of Psalms is a great example of someone “meditating” on the ways of God. Delight in the Lord God who is all the riches you’ll ever need.

Great post. The Bible says a lot in both Testaments about how important it is for believers to be joyful. Our loving God is able to give us genuine joy, even in difficult circumstances.
